Every year the Village surveys the energy market to provide residents access to the most economical electrical service rates available. This process of contracting with an electrical power supplier on behalf of our residents is referred to as “electrical aggregation”.
The current rate offered from ComEd is:
6.725 cents/kilowatt hour (June – Sept)
7.216 cents/kilowatt hour (Oct – May 2020)
The Village surveyed the market in April 2019. After reviewing information available from the Village’s broker (NIMEC) and the Citizens Utility Board (CUB), we have concluded that utilizing electric energy supplied by ComEd provides the best value for our residents over the next 12 months. Please visit the CUB website for detailed information regarding municipal aggregation and precautions to use if you are considering an alternative to ComEd.
Additionally, the Village has recently received inquiries regarding “green” alternatives for electricity options. This spring, our Village decided to continue to use ComEd as our electricity supplier for 2019. However, residents maintain the option to individually contract with “alternative retail electrical suppliers” (ARES) at their sole discretion. The Village recommends that anyone considering the use of an electrical supplier OTHER THAN ComEd or any supplier offering “Green Energy” alternatives should read and understand the information available from the Citizen’s Utility Board (CUB).
