“Miller, Mancini, and More” with Jim Kendros
Delight to the wonderful sounds of instrumental hits from the Big Band Era through the 60’s! Music historian, Jim Kendros will be the presenter at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 15 in the Morton Grove Senior Center. Register in-person at the Senior Center at a cost of $5 for Senior Center Members and $6 for non-members.

Morton Arboretum
A day at the Morton Arboretum on Thursday, May 16 begins with a buffet lunch of Salmon, Caesar Salad, Sparta Ciabatta and Turkey Caesar Wrap in the Ginkgo Café. After lunch enjoy a narrated tram tour on the Acorn Express. The bus will depart from the Senior Center at 10:45 a.m. and return at 3:45 p.m. Register in-person at the Senior Center at a cost of $47 for Senior Center Members and $54 for non-members. There must be 15 people registered.

AARP Mature Driving Program
The AARP Driver Safety Program is a two-day, four-hour refresher course for drivers age 50+. The class covers information needed to pass the State of Illinois license exam and reviews vision, hearing, and physical changes that drivers experience with age. There is also instruction on safer driving habits, avoiding hazards, changes in roadway conditions, auto safety equipment and a discussion of when to consider driver retirement. Completion of the course may entitle drivers to a discount on their auto insurance. Morton Grove classes are offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 17 and 24 in the Morton Grove Senior Center. The cost is $10 and only a personal check is accepted. Register in-person at the Senior Center.

Edizon Dayao” Performance
Edizon Dayao will entertain with music and vocals at the Morton Grove Senior Center at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20. His wonderful show is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Register for this free program by calling the Morton Grove Senior Hot Line at 847/470-5223. This program is being sponsored by HCN Home Healthcare.

Tai Chi Classes
Tai Chi uses slow, gentle movements to improve flexibility and build muscle strength gradually. Join the Morton Grove Senior Center for this eight-week series of classes to be held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesdays beginning May 20. Register in-person at the Senior Center at a cost of $46 for Senior Center Members and $53 for non-members. There must be six people registered.

Visually Impaired Motivators
The Morton Grove Visually Impaired Motivators is a low vision support group for seniors with macular degeneration and other degenerative eye diseases and their families. Their next meeting will be at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20 in the Morton Grove Senior Center. They discuss everyday problems of living with low vision and possible solutions, exchange ideas on the latest technology and assistance devices available, and share what has worked for them. “Getting to the Heart of the Matter!”
Donna Gilski of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital will discuss the multiplicity of available cardiac tests at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21 in the Morton Grove Senior Center. There is no charge for this program. Register by calling the Senior Hot Line at 847/470-5223. There must be 15 people registered.

Mall Shopping
Morton Grove seniors who would like to join shoppers on a trip to the Golf Mill Mall on Tuesday, May 27 should call the Morton Grove Senior Hot Line at 847/470-5223 to reserve a seat on the Seniortran. Home pick-ups begin at 9:15 a.m. with arrival at Golf Mill at 10:15 a.m. Trips are free for Morton Grove Senior Center Members and $1 for all others.

“The Buddy Holly Story”
Set in the rockin’ fifties, “The Buddy Holly Story” at the Drury Lane Theatre celebrates the exuberant energy of this legendary musician/songwriter. Rediscover the rock n’ roll roots with over 20 timeless classics including, “That’ll Be The Day,” “La Bamba,” and “Chantilly Lace.” The bus will depart from the Morton Grove Senior Center at 10:45 a.m. and return at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28. Register in-person at the Senior Center at cost of $78 for Senior Center Members and $90 for non-members. There must be 17 people registered.

Senior Prom
The Morton Grove Public Library and the Morton Grove Senior Center request your presence at the free “Senior Prom” from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 1 in the Senior Center with a live performance by In Full Swing. The free program is limited to Morton Grove residents age 55+ or non-residents who are Senior Center Members. Register in-person at the Senior Center during the month of May and receive a ticket that must be presented at the door on June 1. There is a limit of two tickets per person and registration is limited to 150 guests. No walk-ins will be accepted. The doors open at 12:30 p.m. and light refreshments will be served

Baby Boomer Bead Bonanza
Join the Morton Grove Senior Center for a Beading Party plus dinner at Adelia’s Closet in Morton Grove on Thursday, June 5. Select a project to work on right in the store and craft it under the guidance of one of Adelia’s instructors. The bus departs from the Senior Center at 5:45 p.m. and returns at 8:15 p.m. Register in-person at the Senior Center at a cost of $24 for Senior Center Members and $28 for non-members. There must be 10 people registered.

“Gigi” Show
Charming young Gigi has a very Parisian career planned by her worldly aunt and grandmother. But amour has a mind of its own in this irresistible romantic comedy as Gigi follows her own path to true love. Familiar songs like, “The Night They Invented Champagne,” “I Remember it Well,” and “I’m Glad I’m Not Young Anymore” will highlight the Cahn Auditorium in Evanston on Friday, June 6. The bus departs from the Senior Center at 12:45 and returns at 6 p.m. Register in-person at the Senior Center at a cost of $57 for Senior Center Members and $66 for non-members. There must be 15 people registered.

Frank Pisani’s “Hollywood Legends”
Join the Morton Grove Senior Center as Frank Pisani, singer, comedian, and impressionist entertains at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 9. Frank will present the music and comedy of Jimmy Durante, George Burns, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and more. Do not miss this exciting afternoon! This program sponsored by St. Andrew Life Center and is therefore free of charge. Advance registration is required by calling the Morton Grove Senior Hot Line at 847/470-5223. There must be 20 people registered.

Mayflower Tours Trip Preview
Mayflower Tours will highlight their upcoming Egypt, Italy, Polar Bear Express and Atlantic City trips at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11 in the Morton Grove Senior Center. Register for this free program by calling the Morton Grove Senior Hot Line at 847/470-5223. There must be at least 15 participants registered.

See Galena with Educational Tours, Inc.
On June 12 travelers from the Morton Grove Senior Center will set out for Galena to tour the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium, Ulysses S. Grant Home, Historic Dowling House, plus the Spirit of Dubuque Sightseeing Cruise. The bus departs from the Senior Center at 6:45 a.m. and returns at 10 p.m. Register in-person at the Senior Center at a cost of $185 for Members and $200 for non-members. There must be 25 people registered.

Two for the Road” Concert
This musical duo is back by popular demand to entertain with singing and acoustic guitar at the Morton Grove Senior Center at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 16. Register in-person at the Senior Center before May 15 at a reduced cost of $4 for Senior Center Members and $5 for non-members. After May 15 the costs are $5 for Members and $6 for non-members. There must be 15 people registered by May 15.

“Jersey Boys”
This 2006 Tony Award winning Best Musical about the Four Seasons will be enjoyed by travelers from the Morton Grove Senior Center on Wednesday, July 16. The bus will departs at 12:45 and returns at 6 p.m. Register in-person at the Senior Center at a cost of $125 for Senior Center Members and $135 for non-members.

“The Full Monty”
This heart-warming comedy centers around six out-of-work and out-of-shape steel workers who hatch a scheme to put on a show but realize they will have to do “The Full Monty” to attract the local gals. Will they triumph over their fears and nerves? This is a one-of-a-kind musical that bares its soul to reveal its heart. Theatre-goers from the Morton Grove Senior Center will also take in a sandwich dinner at 6 p.m. at the Center before departing for the Marriott Lincolnshire Theatre on Thursday, July 17. Register in-person at the Senior Center before June 13 at a reduced cost of $43 for Senior Center Members and $49 for non-members. After June 13 the costs are $49 for Members and $56 for non-members. There must be 15 people registered by June 12.

Morton Grove Lending Closet
The Morton Grove Lending Closet hours are 9 a.m. through 4 p.m. any Monday through Friday. The Lending Closet has a variety of mobility assistance equipment available for Morton Grove residents for up to one year. With the exception of wheelchairs and commodes, the equipment is loaned at no charge to people with temporary or permanent disabilities. Availability of items in stock is by first call/first loaned and are not delivered but must be picked up at the Morton Grove Senior Center. Wheelchairs will be loaned at a rate of $10 per three months for a maximum of 12 months. Commodes will be loaned at a rate of $10. The Closet also accepts donations of items in good condition.
