ComEd intends to perform overnight work along Lehigh Avenue for the next two weeks. The work is scheduled to begin Monday, October 23 and continuing through Saturday, November 4, but is dependent on favorable weather conditions. Each night construction crews will be working to remove and replace two electrical towers next to the railroad tracks. The working hours will be from 6pm to 7am. The overnight hours will minimize safety conflicts with the large number of trains traveling through Morton Grove during daytime hours. This work will affect traffic, commuter parking spaces, and overnight noise. Two-way traffic on Lehigh Avenue will be reduced to one lane with flaggers controlling northbound and southbound movements. Commuter parking spaces #268 through #293 will be unavailable next week between 6pm and 7am and some of those spaces are already close because of construction staging. There will be construction noise generated by large equipment involved in removing and replacing the steel structure. The Village understands this to be important work for ComEd to maintain and improve the reliability of delivering energy to its customers. ComEd, its engineers and contractors, and Village staff have coordinated this work closely to minimize the time of the inconvenience and minimize safety concerns. We encourage you to avoid Lehigh Avenue on these dates and during those hours. Please allow extra time and patiently follow the instructions of the flaggers if you are passing through the construction zone.
