Lifetime Animal Licenses Available for Morton Grove Residents
Morton Grove residents who own a dog, cat or ferret over six months of age are required to obtain a permit for the animal. Residents now have the opportunity to purchase an animal license for their pet that will be valid for the entire lifetime of the animal.
The lifetime animal registration fee for a dog, cat or ferret is $50. Residents providing documentation showing that the animal has been spayed or neutered will pay a reduced registration fee of $25.
Upon registering the animal, the owner shall receive a permit tag which must be fastened to the animal’s collar and worn by the animal at all times. Any ferret, dog or cat which does not have a tag while outdoors may be deemed to be a stray and could be impounded by the Village.
Solid Waste, Yard Waste, and Recycling Service Days and Areas/Hours of Collection
The service day for residents EAST of the North Branch of the Chicago River is Tuesday.
The service day for residents WEST of the North Branch of the Chicago River is Wednesday.
Garbage, recycling and yard waste are all picked up one a week on the same day in each service area. Different trucks collect the three types of material, so they are not picked up at the same time. Route schedules for trucks may vary weekly.
Residents may not set materials out before 6:00 pm the night before collection. Collection begins at 7:00 am. Residents must have their material at the curbline, remaining on the parkway or driveway (not in the street) by that time. If your collection has been in the alley behind your home that will remain the same. Groot will not return to pick up late set-outs.
For additional information, you can view the complete Garbage Users Guide.
Additionally, please visit Groot for schedules, bill payment options, contact information, and much more.
Sprinkling Regulations
The Village imposes restrictions on lawn sprinkling from May 15 - September 15. Sprinkling is permitted during the following hours ONLY:
5 am - 11 am
6 pm - 11 pm
These restrictions apply to all properties (residential, commercial and industrial) on a daily basis. The hours of permitted sprinkling occur during the cooler parts of the day when evaporation is minimized. This increases effectiveness while using less water. These restrictions do not apply to hand-held sprinkling hoses. Police and Public Works personnel monitor sprinkling continually during drought situations and violators are subject to fines. Fines begin at $25 for the first violation and can increase up to $150 per violation for repeat offenders. For additional Information contact the Department of Public Works.
SUV and Pickup Parking
Village Ordinance 04-35 permits the parking of noncommercial SUV's, pickup trucks and passenger vans on driveways and on residential streets. Commercial vehicles, however, cannot be parked between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. Please note, you cannot park your vehicle overnight if it has double or triple wheels, any signs, advertisements or business markings, attached auxiliary equipment (such as plows, racks or storage boxes), contain debris, equipment, or construction/landscape materials in the bed, or features a license plate other than passenger or class "B". Vehicle Stickers

New residents should come to Village Hall for their first vehicle license within 30 days of moving into Morton Grove. Residents who move into Morton Grove between May 1 and October 31 and who have a valid vehicle sticker from another municipality must purchase a sticker in Morton Grove, but need only pay $27.50 for the sticker which will be good until May 1. Persons who move into Morton Grove between November 1 and April 30 and have a valid vehicle sticker from the municipality in which they formerly resided will not need to purchase a Morton Grove vehicle sticker until May 1.
