Leaf Collection Reminder #6: Keep Your Pile Clean
Leaf piles containing prohibited materials will not be collected. If prohibited materials are found, the resident will receive a door tag notifying them of the issue.
The Village’s goal is to keep leaf collection running safely and efficiently. Fines of up to $750 are an enforcement option for continued violations but are intended as a last resort.
Please help us avoid delays and additional enforcement by keeping your leaf pile leaves only.
How great is this? This summer, the Morton Grove Public Library partnered with the Forest Preserve District of Cook County to bring a unique twist to story time with a StoryWalk!
Pages of a children’s book are placed on numbered signs in the forest preserve, giving families the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, explore nature, and read a story together along the way.
If you haven’t had a chance to experience the StoryWalk yet, there’s still time! The current StoryWalk will be available through the end of October.
Grab the kids, head outside, and enjoy a story in a whole new way. And while you’re out there, take in the changing colors and beauty of fall!
Reminder: Water Leak Repairs – Lincoln and Lehigh
Water leak repairs are scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. near the Metra station, just west of the train tracks at Lincoln and Lehigh.
Intermittent road closures will likely be necessary during the work. Detour signs will be posted, but congestion and delays are expected. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and use alternate routes whenever possible.
Thank you for your patience as crews work to address the issue.
Today, we remember Officer Barry Shalin and honor his life, service, and sacrifice.
On October 9, 1989, Officer Shalin made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the Morton Grove community. While conducting a traffic stop, he was struck by an intoxicated driver.
Officer Shalin served the Morton Grove Police Department with dedication and distinction for 19 years. He was just 41 years old.
October 9 remains a solemn day for our department and our community—a time to reflect on Officer Shalin’s service and the sacrifices made by those who serve.

🚧 Waukegan Road Resurfacing 🚧
Construction work is in progress on Waukegan Road between Emerson Street and Golf Road in Morton Grove. The project extends northward to Henley Street in Glenview. The pace of work will increase rapidly and will impact traffic.
Avoid the area if you can and drive carefully through the construction zone if you cannot.
The contractor is scheduled to place the first layer of asphalt between Emerson Street and Golf Road on Saturday, October 10 and Monday, October 12. Paving will continue into Glenview after October 12, but the activity will continue in Morton Grove. The utility structures will be raised to the final grade. The final layer of asphalt will be placed. The pavement markings will then be installed.
The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-November.
