How to Start Operating Outdoor Dining

Last updated: Village Administrator | Wednesday, May 27, 2020

The Village has established a quick, easy and free process that allows establishments licensed to serve food and/or alcohol (“restaurant”) to operate outdoor dining during Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois Plan. Through this process, restaurants can:

  • Use portions of their property, including parking spaces and patios for outdoor dining.
  • Serve alcohol in designated outdoor dining areas (Applies to current liquor license holders, only)
  • Begin to operate subject to the established Rules for Outdoor Dining Areas with only a simple notification to the Village. Please be aware that the rules established by the Village are subject to change based on updated information from the State of Illinois, Cook County and observation/experience locally.

If you plan to conduct outdoor dining, please send an email to outdoordining@mortongroveil.org to let us know your plans with info contained the Rules for Outside Dining Areas in the “Eligibility” section.  The Village will work with all restaurants to ensure that outdoor dining can begin safely starting on May 29.

Please contact the Village Administrator at 847 470-5220 if you have any questions or would like assistance.
