Impacted Area: area of 6300 Block of Lincoln
Trial Period: December 3, 2019 to June 3, 2020
The Village has received a request from local businesses to review the regulations pertaining to parking in the vanity of Lincoln and Callie, specifically being the four ( 4) parking spaces west of Callie along the north side of the street in front of 6300 and 6310 Lincoln.
The aforementioned parking spaces are currently regulated under Village of Morton Grove Ordinance 5-13F-3-B, Time Limit Parking, to wit:
90 Minute Parking- Lincoln Ave -A point 60 feet west of the centerline of Callie Avenue to a point 207 feet west of the centerline of Callie Avenue - North - Daily, except Saturday, Sunday and holidays 8:00 A.M to 6:00 P.M
Local businesses state that this regulation han1pers the ability of customers to enter their establishments and conduct business visits of an adequate length.
After discussion among senior village staff, it has been determined that the creation of a Zone 14 parking area would be an appropriate experimental step in attempting to mitigate this problem.
Zone 14 regulations would be as follows:
There shall be restricted parking on the following streets between the hours indicated except for vehicles displaying a Zone 14 special parking permit:
90 Minute Parking - Lincoln Ave - A point 60 feet west of the centerline of Callie Avenue to a point 207 feet west of the centerline of Callie Avenue - North Daily, except Saturday, Sunday and holidays 8:00 A.M to 6:00 P.M
The Public Works Department is developing a signage plan in support of this experimental regulation. Appropriate signs will be installed in the area as necessary.
Notifications will be made to businesses in the area of this experimental regulation. Four (4) Zone 14 special permits will be distributed to each of the businesses adjacent to the parking spots in question.
Copies of this experimental regulation will be provided to all village switchboards for reference.
To allow time to complete the planning for this project, and notify the area businesses of our intentions, this will go into effect on December 3, 2019.
Municipal Code Section 5-1-4 authorizes the Police Chief to make this temporary regulation, with approval from the Village Administrator. Village Administrator Czerwinski supports this request.
Therefore, for a period of 180 days, from December 3,2019 to June 3, 2020, parking will be regulated as described above.
The police department will monitor the situation and I will keep you all informed of any problems or issues that arise.
