Impacted Area: Stop Signs at Eastbound Madison & Monroe Courts at Austin Ave.
Trial Period: March 29, 2019 to September 29, 2019
In an effort to maintain a high level of vehicle traffic flow, safety and efficiency, Village personnel routinely monitor and review areas of the Village in order to recommend changes in traffic restrictions and regulations where appropriate. Recently, as part of this review and in response to resident requests, Village staff has observed trucks creating nuisance noise while exiting private streets onto Austin Ave.
In response to these resident requests, the Village will be installing stop signs for eastbound traffic exiting Madison and Monroe Courts onto Austin Ave. as an appropriate experimental step in an attempt to mitigate this problem.
Municipal Code Section 5-1-4 authorizes the Police Chief (with approval from the Village Administrator) to make temporary changes to Village traffic regulations for the purpose of determining the appropriateness of permanent changes. Therefore, for a period of 180 days from March 29, 2019 to September 29, 2019, stop signs will be placed eastbound at Madison Court and Austin Ave., and Monroe Court and Austin Ave.
Notices informing the area’s residents and businesses of this enforceable trial restriction will be mailed individually. Residents and businesses are also encouraged to provide their feedback to the Village during the specified trial period.
