Street Resurfacing

Oakton Street Resurfacing from Waukegan Road to Long Avenue
Lehigh Avenue Resurfacing from Touhy Avenue to Oakton Street

The Illinois Department of Transportation will be making improvements this summer to the segments of Oakton Street and Lehigh Avenue as described above. The Village of Morton Grove is providing advanced notice of the project as a courtesy to the motoring public and interested parties.

The contractor intends to begin the work in July and will install signs to warn the general public of the project. The signs will be installed at least one week before construction begins with a construction start date. The contractor has until the end of the year to complete the work.

The project includes removing the top 3-3/4 inches of pavement, patching the remaining pavement base as needed, repairing curb segments as needed, resurfacing, and replacing pavement markings. There is other incidental work included in the contract.

The Illinois Department of Transportation designed the improvements, hired the contractor, and is responsible for ensuring the work meets contract requirements. You may direct your comments and questions to the Illinois Department of Transportation. There is an on-line submittal form at their website (Submit Question/Comments (illinois.gov)) as well as a general hotline phone number 800-452-4368.

Two-way traffic will be maintained at all time. A lane or multiple lanes will be closed to create a construction zone between the peak travel times. This should be expected to cause a delay for traffic.

We encourage you first to find an alternate route to avoid the construction zone.

If you travel through the construction zone, we encourage you to allow extra time and to be patient and cooperative within the construction zone to minimize the chance of injury and crashes for motorists and workers.
